Ringworm - Natural Home Remedies

Ringworm is a common fungal infection that manifests as a red, itchy, circular rash. While medical treatments are available, some prefer natural remedies. Below are some home treatments that may help alleviate symptoms.

Soap and Water

Maintaining cleanliness is essential. Regularly wash the affected area with antibacterial soap to prevent the fungus from spreading.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Known for its antifungal properties, apple cider vinegar can be applied to the rash with a cotton ball three times daily.

Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil, a traditional remedy, can be used for its antifungal and antibacterial effects. Apply it to the rash with a cotton swab two or three times per day.

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil’s fatty acids can destroy fungal cells. Apply it to the rash several times a day until you see improvement.

Turmeric

Turmeric has anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial benefits. Make a paste with turmeric powder and water, apply to the rash, and cover with a bandage.

Aloe Vera

Aloe vera gel can soothe the skin and act as an antiseptic. Apply it directly to the rash multiple times a day.

Garlic

Garlic contains ajoene, an antifungal compound. Mix crushed garlic cloves with oil, apply to the area, and cover for up to two hours before washing off.

Oregano Oil

Oregano oil has antifungal properties. Dilute it with a carrier oil and apply to the rash two or three times a day.

Lemongrass Oil or Tea

Lemongrass also has antifungal properties. Apply the oil or drink lemongrass tea to combat the infection.

Precautions

Before using these remedies, test for allergic reactions by applying a small amount to healthy skin. If irritation occurs, stop use immediately. Consult a doctor for persistent or severe cases.

Good hygiene practices are vital in preventing ringworm. Keep your skin clean and dry, avoid sharing personal items, and treat all infected areas to prevent reinfection.
